Valašské Meziříčí
The Castle of Kinský

-the castle of Kinsky was originally built at the place of the Rožnov-Krásno mansion house which was wooden until the 18th century.
The Castle of Kinský At 1854 it was rebuilt to a mansion under the owner Eugen Kinský. Along with the castle there is a beautiful park with lot of kinds of trees, which was founded at the turn of the 18th and 19th century.This castle and the park were owned by the families Žerotín and Kinský.
After 1954 the castle was nationalized and the Musem of Valašské Meziříčí moved to the castle in 1948-1950. The building has housed the museum up to now. It’s name is the Regional museum of Wallachia in Vsetín,the museum of Valašské Meziříčí.
In 1974-1988 it went through a series of renovations.In 1988 it was opened to the public.All visitors can see all four permanent museum expositions: The reflection of the history of Valašské Meziříčí, Glass and gobelins, The ceiling pictures and a little café of Antonín Duřpek. At this museum various expositions of history,art,etnography or naturalism are held there.

The castle of Žerotín

The castle of Žerotín The construction of the castle was started in 1538.During the 19th century it was used as a penitentiary,then during the war it served the military purposes.The major reconstruction at the end of the last century made the Žerotín castle the centre of the cultural life.
The cellar houses the M-Club,one of the most charming cultural places of its kind in Czech republic.

The Church of the Holy Trinity

-this building comes from the 16th century.Originally it was built as the Renaissance cemetery church. The historical centre of the town was in 1992 claimed to be the town’s landmark.
Just like at the castle of Kinský, there is a permanent exposition of the wooden and stone plastics of various characters.The most interesting piece of the lapidarium is the gravestone of Magdalena Žernovská from Žernov and her father John’s epitaph,both from the 16th century.
This church is occasionaly used as a concert or an exhibiton hall.It is open only during the summer holidays.

Town square

Town square Two remarkable statues dominate the centre of the town square,the older one is a Virgin Mary collumn that dates back to the 17th century.The other one on the opposite side of the town square is a statue of St.Florian from 1901 which was built by František Neumann from Kroměříž in the 18.century.Visitors enjoy this place for its relaxing atmosphere.

The Observatory of Valašské Meziříčí

The observatory is located on the south side of the town on a hill called Stínadla.It was opened for the public in 1955.
The observatory of Valašské Mezříčí gives lectures on current and interesting topics for the public.Those who are interested in astronomy may také part in exquisite astronomical observations during the eclipse of the Sun,the eclipse of the Moon and many others.This observatory also focuses on a special obervatorial work.
The weather station of the Czech hydrometeorological institution has been working in the area of the observatory since 1957.
